Our mission at the Recorder's office is to maintain public records according to the statutes of the State of Missouri and make them easily accessible for viewing by the public. We provide data on Real Estate transactions and historical perspective, Marriage Records, Service Records, Tax Liens, and Uniform Commercial Codes. (Codes are now filed in the Secretary of State's Office, Jefferson City, MO)
Our earliest records, beginning 1839, were hand-recorded in books until 1990 at which time we began both automated records combined with hand- recorded instruments. Our office records an average of 75 to 180 documents per day. We are building our automated data base and preparing for the future. In an effort to accomplish our mission, Karen and staff is working to obtain a new automated system with scanning to update and provide the public with easy access to records.
